Finally! Red and Processed Meats Linked to Cancer

28 Oct

The WHO (World Health Organization) published that eating red and processed meats like bacon, sausages and cold cuts are linked to increased risk of colon and stomach cancer.

It’s a huge step that the WHO has finally published something like this. As we have been saying and as Dr. Colin Campbell published, animal protein has been found, again and again, to be a huge factor in the development of different types of cancer in humans.

The first step to eating a healthier diet is cut out red and processed meats and dairy, add as many fruits and vegetables as you can and introduce healthy whole grains and legumes like brown rice, quinoa, beans and lentils.

Eat More: Antioxidants

13 Apr

To understand what antioxidants are, first, we have to understand free radicals.

Free radicals are molecules, with unpaired electrons, which attack cell walls through a chemical reaction (oxidation). It makes cells unstable, which in turn, make other cells unstable, and so on.

Antioxidants are molecules which bind to the free radicals stabilizing them so they can cause no harm to cells.

This is important because free radicals have been found to be a part of:

  • Premature aging
  • Chronic disease
  • Cancer

Antioxidants are abundant in fruits and vegetables. We have to eat a variety of fruits, vegetables, grains, beans and nuts everyday. No need to take antioxidant supplements, just add a few of these to your diet everyday:

  • Beans
  • Blueberries
  • Artichokes
  • Raspberries
  • Apples
  • Pecans
  • Broccoli
  • Squash
  • Carrots
  • Green leafy vegetables
  • Whole grains

Fiber = Healthy Digestive System and More!

19 Mar

Fiber is a great supplement, specially now that so many people are  consuming the SAD diet (Standard American Diet), a diet that lacks fiber and many other nutrients.

Fiber is great for stabilizing blood sugar, it helps lower cholesterol, it prevents colon cancer, hemorrhoids, constipation, alleviates irritable bowel syndrome symptoms and studies show it may even help people lose weight!

In addition to taking a supplement make sure you include foods to your diet, which are high in fiber:

  • Whole grains
  • Fruits
  • Vegetables
  • Nuts
  • Brown rice
  • Seeds
  • Lentils
  • Beans
