This is a link to an interview by the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. It explains a little more of who I am and why I’m working in changing the way people eat.

Eat Healthy, Be Happy!

Chocolate Makes You Healthier!

A new study reveals that people who eat chocolate have a lower risk of heart disease and stroke. It also proves that the more chocolate, the better. The group who consumed more chocolate, were the ones found to have a lower risk.

You can add cacao nibs to smoothies or eat dark chocolate. That way you stay away from sugar and other processed unhealthy ingredients.

Matthew Kenney Culinary

I am so exited to spread the word about the best raw food workshop around. M.A.K.E., Matthew Kenney’s Culinary Institute and Restaurant in Santa Monica CA, has weekend workshops where everyone can learn the basics of raw cuisine (there are also more advanced courses if you know the basics). It is a 2 day course in which you learn everything from opening a coconut to making delicious cocoa truffles!

Our instuctor Michael Vincent was great. He took his time to make sure everyone understood what we were doing. The first day we prepared almond milk, a green smoothie, coconut yogurt, buckwheat granola and a kale-chipotle salad and day 2 was seaweed salad, sesame-cashew dumplings, cocoa truffles and ice cream! Yes! Healthy, plant based, delicious ice cream!

Raw food is not about only eating fruits and vegetables, it is a plant based diet, but Matthew Kenney has creative ways of putting ingredients together to produce amazing meals which are flavorful and healthy.

This course is a huge step into a healthier lifestyle. I recommend this course for everyone, even if you’re not into healthy eating, raw food or veganism, this is a course that will change the way you look at food and what you want in your body.

Here are some photos I took during the workshop:

Food of the Week: Celery

17 Aug

Celery is rich in vitmins A, B3, B5, C, E, K, folate, calcium, iodine, iron, magnesium potassium, sodium, zinc and fiber.

Celery is alkalizing to the body, thanks to it’s rich mineral content. It contains phtalides, which help reduce high blood pressure, it stimulates the immune system, helps ease joint pain and has anti-cancer properties. It is also antiseptic and helps with mouth ulcers and sore throat.

Celery is best eaten raw. I love celery juice mixed with beet and apple juices, or celery sticks dipped in hummus! Yum!

Did You Know? About Cognitive Improvement

8 Aug

Did you know that physical exercise like resistance training and walking, can improve cognitive in elderly adults?

Studies show that men and women who were physically active during 6 months, showed improvement in memory and attention.

Sherbourne

Sherbourne, what a lovely surprise!

Chef Keven Lee exceeded my expectations! When he came over to our table and offered to prepare anything I could dream of, I thought he was kidding and although the menu items looked fantastic, I decided to take his word and have him cook something special for me.

I was blown away. All I had to do was tell him my food restrictions and he prepared the most amazing fish dish I have ever had in my whole life! Dairy, meat, poultry and processed ingeredients free! The flavors were amazing!

My friends had a taste of the potato cart and were delighted with it and with all of their dishes as well.

The place is fantastic, discreet, elegant and cool.

It is a MUST!

Can’t wait to go back this weekend!
