Prenatal Exposure to Pesticides May Harm Children’s Brain

A recent article published by WebMD News, informs that prenatal exposure to pesticides used in crops, resulted in abnormalities in the brain cortex of children. 

The abnormalities consisted of areas of enlargement and others which were reduced, these anatomical changes disturb normal brain development and resulted in children with lower IQ’s and decline in memory. 

The pesticide studied is chlorpyrifos, which was banned for residential use, but is still allowed on crops and may be sprayed in public areas.

The best way to avoid exposure to this pesticide,  is, for pregnant women to stay away from crops and farms and to eat organic produce and foods.
