A recent study in the UK demonstrates that people who were distracted while eating consumed more calories than those who were not.

Try eating while sitting down, turn TV and all electronic devices OFF and concentrate on eating, the flavors, the texture of the food, chewing and how much you are enjoying your healthy meal.

Tomatoes are rich in vitamins A, B, C, K, folic acid, chromium, potassium, antioxidants and fiber.

They improve the immune system, they have anticancer properties, prevent macular degeneration and aid in heart disease. Men who consume ten servings or more, per week, have lower prostate cancer rates.

It has been found that lycopene, a carotenoid in tomatoes, is fat soluble, so the anticancer properties are specially beneficial when consumed with fat-rich foods like avocado, olive oil and nuts.

I am so exited to spread the word about the best raw food workshop around. M.A.K.E., Matthew Kenney’s Culinary Institute and Restaurant in Santa Monica CA, has weekend workshops where everyone can learn the basics of raw cuisine (there are also more advanced courses if you know the basics). It is a 2 day course in which you learn everything from opening a coconut to making delicious cocoa truffles!

Our instuctor Michael Vincent was great. He took his time to make sure everyone understood what we were doing. The first day we prepared almond milk, a green smoothie, coconut yogurt, buckwheat granola and a kale-chipotle salad and day 2 was seaweed salad, sesame-cashew dumplings, cocoa truffles and ice cream! Yes! Healthy, plant based, delicious ice cream!

Raw food is not about only eating fruits and vegetables, it is a plant based diet, but Matthew Kenney has creative ways of putting ingredients together to produce amazing meals which are flavorful and healthy.

This course is a huge step into a healthier lifestyle. I recommend this course for everyone, even if you’re not into healthy eating, raw food or veganism, this is a course that will change the way you look at food and what you want in your body.

Here are some photos I took during the workshop:

Yes, I’m obsessed! At the Beverly Hills Juice, you pick your favorite fresh, cold pressed juice and then blend it into a delicious creamy (vegan) smoothie by adding a mix of bananas with almonds, cacao or sunflower seeds.

My absolute favorite Apple-Persimmon-Coconut, Almond Banana Manna. It’s also great with the Mixed Greens and the Apple-Ginger (if you like to try edgy new flavors).

If you haven’t been there you are missing out on the best smoothies in town! And believe me, I’ve tried them all!

Did you know that the FDA approved genetically modified salmon for human consumption?

This fish is developed by AquaBounty an American company which in my opinion, has no respect for humans or the environment. Can you imagine the damage that can be produced if these fish get into the wild and contaminate all the other fish?

We have seen the damage that all the other GMO have caused; Obesity, diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease. Please say no to GMO, please say no to GM fish, read the labels, ask the government to label these.
